Bibliopolis
Books have been publishing and selling ebooks on CD-ROM since 2005,
originally specializing in local history and genealogy. More
recently we have expanded to cover a wider range of subjects and to
offer some of our reprints as downloadable e-books.
Most
of our products are available in CD-ROM format. There are 3 types of
publication:
1. Fascimiles of old printed books. These are made up of scans of the pages of a book designed to reproduce the original work as closely as possible. They are usually large PDF files and can be viewed and printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader (print quality will vary according to the original). Because they are facsimiles, these CD Books are NOT searchable, but they usually contain indexes.
2. Digitized text versions of old printed books. Instead of the original scans, the pages of these books have been converted to text. This is particularly useful when the original is difficult to read because of small print size or deterioration due to age. They are also PDF files and can be viewed, printed and SEARCHED using Adobe Acrobat Reader. They do not normally contain illustrations.
3. Original publications. These are not based on previously published books, but are original Bibliopolis publications, either local histories or collections of data, such as transcriptions of census returns, parish registers etc. They can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader and are also searchable.
